Our stunning coastlines and big, uninterrupted skies are a draw for walkers, artists, photographers and outdoor enthusiasts of all kinds. You might not feel the need to leave the farm, but if you do, you’ll find plenty of interest in north Aberdeenshire. And we’re more than happy to share local tips on how to reach the special places.

Discover Fraserburgh
There are many beach and cliff walks nearby (Banff and Buchan) with opportunities to see a range of wildlife. New Aberdour beach is the closest at just two miles away, while Cullykhan beach is of special interest as home of the remarkable ‘Hells Lum’.
Heading inland you’ll find many castles, all within easy driving distance from the farm. Fyvie and Delgatie are our favourites, but a visit to Slains is also a must, especially if you’re intrigued by the theory that it was here Bram Stoker conceived the idea for his infamous creation, ‘Dracula’. This ruin, perched on the cliff tops, with only the sound of crashing waves on the rocks below and the cry of seagulls, has a distinctly eerie air, particularly on greyer days!
Castle Trail: Visit Scotland
The Moray Firth is home to a population of around 130 dolphins, one of only two pods in the UK – you may spot them if you’re lucky (https://dolphincentre.whales.org/). Macduff Marine Aquairum, Troup Head Gannet Colony, the RSPB Nature Reserve at Loch of Strathbeg and the WCDS Dolphin Centre in Spey Bay are excellent places to learn more about the diverse marine life in these amazing waters. Other activities on this stretch of the coast include fishing, scuba diving, boat trips and a range of water sports.
On dry land but still close to the sea, you’ll marvel at The Bullers of Buchan, and the Fraserburgh Lighthouse Museum. This region is also famous for ports such as Buckie, Fraserburgh and Peterhead, and the smaller picturesque fishing villages of Crovie (‘Crivvie’) and Pennan, where the 1983 film, ‘Local Hero’, was filmed. Our nearest towns are Fraserburgh and Banff.
The Banffshire Coast has been voted one of the top coastline destinations in the world – with its stunning cliff top paths and sprawling sandy beaches stretching from Cullen in the west to Pennan in the East, it’s just waiting to be explored. Our closest access point to this coastline is just two miles away at the charming pebble beach at New Aberdour. Slow down and enjoy life at a slower pace, watch the local fishermen land their catch.
We’re also a brilliant base from which to enjoy the region’s famous festivals – Speyside Festival, Coast Festival, Portsoy Boat Festival and Fishing Festival.
Fishing: Deveron
We’re close to some of Scotland’s best distilleries. Stray a little further inland to the UK’s only working cooperage, Speyside Cooperage, and learn about how barrels and casks are made. A tour of this attraction takes you on an interactive journey through the lifecycle of the cask, and you’ll even get up close with the skilled coopers at work.
Whisky Links: Whisky Trail, Scotch Whisky
There are nine golf courses varying from links, heath and parkland, just a short drive from the farm. Aberdeenshire has an amazing selection of around 70 courses, so there’ll be one to suit you, whatever your handicap.
Peterhead Prison Museum, Aden Country Park, Duff House, and The Den in the Glen are popular visitor attractions while Europe’s energy capital, Aberdeen, is an ancient granite city with a rich cultural heritage with much to see.
